POGP 25th Anniversary Gala

The celebrations were inaugurated by the President of the Organization, Sylwester Śmigiel, who opened the official part of the event and summarized a quarter of a century of work for the development of the liquefied gas market. On behalf of the President of Poland, the guests were greeted by MP Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, chair of the Council for Agriculture and Rural Areas at the Office of the President of Poland, who handed Sylwester Śmigiel a flag bearing a dedication from Andrzej Duda.

On behalf of the World LPG Association (WLPGA) the floor was taken by its CEO, James Rockall, and on behalf of the European association Liquid Gas Europe – by LGE Director General Ewa Abramiuk-Lété. Congratulations were also conveyed by representatives of sister organizations: Leszek Wiwała, President and Director General of Polska Organizacja Handlu i Przemysłu Naftowego (the Polish Oil Industry and Trade Organization), and Halina Pupacz, President of Polska Izba Paliw Płynnych (the Polish Chamber of Liquid Fuels). The POGP anniversary gala was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Finance and of Transport Technical Supervision.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, decorations were received by employees of member companies of the Polish Liquefied Gas Organization who have rendered service to the industry. On behalf of the Minister of Technology and Development, the Za zasługi dla rozwoju gospodarki Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej (For Services to the Development of the Economy of the Republic of Poland) badges were presented by the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Technology and Development, Minister Piotr Uściński.

The honorary Za zasługi dla rozwoju gospodarki Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej badge went to the Presidents of the Polish Liquefied Gas Organization in the years 1996-2021:

• Jerzy Szablewski
• Roman Ślagowski
• Sylwester Śmigiel.

Established by the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 12 November 2014, the badge is an honorary distinction awarded by the minister responsible for the economy to natural and legal persons in recognition of services rendered to the development of the economy of the Republic of Poland, including in achieving the favorable economic effects that determine economic growth.

Next, 13 people who over the past years have rendered particular service to the LPG industry received the honorary Zasłużony dla przemysłu naftowego i gazowniczego (Merited for the Oil and Gas Industry) badge.

Established by the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 17 November 2011, the badge is an honorary distinction awarded by the minister responsible for energy to employees of the oil and gas industry, to members of professional and social organizations and to other  natural and legal persons, in recognition of their services to the development of the oil and gas industry.

Finally, President Sylwester Śmigiel presented the commemorative 25 lat POGP (25 Years of POGP) statuettes to people who have made an outstanding contribution to the Organization's statutory activities. They went to:

• Robert Urbański.

After the official part came to an end, a gala dinner opened the entertainment part of the evening. Guests were treated to the Teatr Sabat show Rewia Filmowa (the Film Revue) and to an anniversary cake.
