Lotos - First Biocomponents in the Company's History

The Grupa Lotos refinery has produced its first biocomponents ever – biopropane, a constituent of bioLPG, and biohydrocarbons that serve as a biocomponent of diesel fuel.
The feedstock for biocomponent production was fed into the unit on 22 December this year, where it was converted into biocomponents in a co-hydrogenation process. Co-hydrogenation itself is the joint processing of middle petroleum distillates and vegetable oil in a modern HDS unit (diesel hydrodesulfurization) built under the 10+ Program. As the company assures, this is the first step toward an environmentally friendly refinery producing fuels from products of plant origin.
