Amendment to the Act on Biocomponents and Liquid Biofuels Adopted

On Wednesday 7 June, the Sejm adopted an amendment to the Act on Biocomponents and Liquid Biofuels and to certain other acts.
The act has stirred up a good deal of controversy – its rejection was moved by, among others, the Nowoczesna party. The act creates, among other things, the Low-Emission Transport Fund and provides for additional resources for the fight against smog for the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The money for the fight against smog is to come, among other sources, from a new emission charge of PLN 80 per 1,000 liters of fuel. With fuel prices rising steadily, the additional financial burden is causing unease among drivers.
For the autogas industry the new act is unfavorable. In connection with the possibility of introducing so-called low-emission zones, it promotes gaseous fuels (CNG and LNG) as well as electric and hydrogen vehicles. The act, however, says nothing about liquefied gas, LPG. What future awaits the owners of cars running on Poland's most popular ALTERNATIVE FUEL?
