Fuel Charge Goes Up

As of 1 March the rate on gasolines will be raised by 12.3%. For 1,000 liters of gasoline the charge will rise from PLN 138.49 to PLN 155.49.
For diesel oils the scale of the increase will be smaller, from PLN 306.34 to PLN 323.34, i.e. by about 5.5%. For gases the charge will rise to PLN 187.55 per 1,000 kg from PLN 170.55. In 2019 it stood at PLN 164.61.
In the view of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the increase in the fuel charge will not push up fuel prices at filling stations.
(…) It therefore became necessary to amend the announcement of the Minister of Infrastructure of 7 November 2019 on the rate of the fuel charge for 2020. At the same time, the Act of 13 February 2020 reduced excise duty rates for the period up to 31 December 2020 by the same amount, i.e. PLN 17. The change in rates has no effect whatsoever on fuel prices and does not affect drivers.

The outcome for drivers remains unchanged, because in overall terms they pay the same rate. Thus, in 2015–2019 the fuel charge rates were raised by PLN 25 per 1,000 liters or kilograms, while at the same time the excise duty rates on motor fuels were reduced by the same amount over the same period – the ministry says.
